What is the major theme in the poem “Dream Boogie”?
The major theme in “Dream boogie” (221) is injustice and dreams deferred. In the beginning of the poem the narrator starts off by asking his friend if he has heard the beat of a dream deferred. Then later they described that the beat isn’t a happy beat, because people are upset that their dreams are deferred (not accomplished) due to racial difference. This beat is a metaphor for the people’s feelings about the situation.
