Doctors of Chiropractic are concerned principally with the detection and correction of vertebral subluxation, and the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (primarily coordinated by the nervous system) of the human body as that relationship may affect the restoration and preservation of health. Doctors of Chiropractic serve as direct-access health care providers, referring, as necessary, otherwise establishing appropriate doctor-patient relationships. They emphasize to their patients and the general public the importance of a body free of nervous interference in addition to healthy lifestyles and neuro-spinal hygiene.Doctors of Chiropractic do not prescribe drugs or perform surgery. As a result, chiropractic health care is appealing to many health-conscious Americans.
