Rowbury competed for the United States in the Women’s 1500 metres at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Rowbury grew up in the Parkside section of the Sunset District neighborhood in San Francisco. She attended Saint Stephen School from kindergarten through eighth grade. During her first weeks of kindergarten, she tripped over a basketball causing a spiral fracture in her tibia.After the removal of her cast, Rowbury’s grandmother enrolled her in an Irish Dance class as a means of rehabilitation. Rowbury continued with Irish Dance through her sophomore year of high school and competed successfully at local, regional, national and world competitions.
