What is the main language spoken in brazil?
I’m Brazilian, and we speak Portuguese in Brazil. Spanish is just spoken at cities that really have borders with Brazil, like let’s say between Paraguay and Brazil and Uruguay and Brazil (all other countries in S. America speak Spanish). If you didn’t know that Portuguese is our official language, you’ll be very surprised then if I tell you that in the south of Brazil there are entire Italian and German colonies in which they just speak those 2 languages. So, I would say that German and Italian is more spoken than Spanish. Plus, the people who speak Spanish and Portuguese at the “border cities” may end up speaking what we call “portunhol” which is a blend of the two languages, and not too formal (believe me).
