Africa is a continent with 53 countries, nearly 1 billion people and over 2000 languages. In Nigeria alone, there are over 250 languages spoken. There is no single main language spoken in Africa. If you ignore all the African languages and just look at the colonial languages that are spoken as second, third and fourth languages by many Africans, you have Arabic in the northeast, French in the north and west and some central countries, English in the center and south, Portuguese in a couple of countries, and Afrikaans in South Africa.
