Well, once they get a good grasp on golf etiquette, then you know at least they can go out and play some golf and have some fun and stay safe. So when it comes to their technique and learning how to swing, and learning how to take good shots… well that’s a work in progress, we’re all trying to do that. Q: How long do you think it takes a young child to get used to playing golf and progress in their game? A: For their whole life, pretty much. It’s a game where you can always learn something new. You can grow as a golfer. Q: What type of technique do you teach the kids here? A: We do some chipping and some pitching and we learn putting, we learn how to control our distance and direction with putts, and we learn how to hit straighter shots with the irons and the drivers. We teach the kids that it’s not as important to hit it far as it is to hit it straight, so accuracy is important. Then we learn how to hit out of the sand.
