What is the main difference between fermentation and respiration?

0

Fermentation occurs in an anaerobic environment. The common method is the conversion of glucose to ethanol because it occurs in an enivornment without oxygen gas (AKA anaerobic environment). Respiration is the opposite. Respiration occurs in an aerobic environment. Using glucose, this is the process called glycolysis where glucose is converted to 2 pyruvate in the presence of oxygen gas (O2).
