What is the Madrid Agreement/Protocol (International trademarks)?

0

The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) has introduced the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol. These are international treaties that provide a means of applying and protecting a mark by means of a single application (also known as International Applications). Although the two are slightly different the effect is the same. A third party can however cancel a mark applied under the CTM if it is not used within a certain period of time. This is applicable in all countries.
