What is the lunar fertile phase’?
A women’s menstrual cycle is very much influenced by the moon. Just as the moon’s phases affect the tides, the moon has an intrinsic effect on humans, specifically women’s cycles. As the moon rotates around the Earth on a 29.5 day cycle its gravitational pull on the Earth stimulates ‘the internal tide’ in women’s bodies. Many ancient cultures have made correlations between menstruation and the moon, some going as far to say a woman was ‘on her moon’ during menstruation. Some theories suggest that before the advent of artificial light and synthetic hormones (in our foods and medicines) women’s menstrual cycles were finely tuned to the natural rhythms of the moon and were 29.5 days in length.
