What is the Lords Supper (Communion)?
The Lord’s Supper or Communion is a “meal” instituted by Jesus for remembrance and worship. For centuries, Christians of all kinds, all nations and all different cultural settings have gathered around a simple “meal” of bread and wine or juice to “commune” together in remembrance of Jesus’ body (the bread) and blood (the juice). There are many different methods of serving this meal—this Sunday, we will be taking it all together (at the same time) in our rows, seats and tables to emphasize the “one body” aspect of this meal. Some key Scriptures for understanding Communion are: 1 Corinthians 10:14-17; 11:23-26; and 11:27-34; John 6:43-59 and Revelation 19:6-9. Jesus our Lord is the primary focus in our Communion. He is there in a unique way as we remember His death and suffering. In the Lord’s Supper, God creates a holy moment for us, individually and as a family of families. He invites us into an intimate reliving of His actual bodily sacrifice for us. He sustains and feeds our faith
