What is the longest prison sentence?
In 2007, two convicted armed robbers got seven consecutive life sentences – plus 265 years – the longest prison sentence in the state of Georgia’s history. Just last summer, a guy from Texas got forty life terms, plus 20 years for each count (a total of 4,060 years!) for the serial sexual abuse of teen girls. He’s eligible for parole in the year 3209, when he’s 1,244 years old! Somehow, I doubt he’ll make it. 🙂 A guy from New York State, Paul Geidel, holds the record for the longest prison sentence ever served in the US. He was convicted of murder in 1911, and served just shy of 67 years before he was released in 1980, at the age of 86.
