What is the list of banks in trouble, according to the FDIC?
If the FDIC were to release the names of banks in trouble, then people would rush in and try to get their money out. Not only would this cause a lot of generalized panic, it would also hurt the banking industry as people with money in non-troubled banks would also be likely to get out their money. If people make a run on their money in the banks (as they did in the 1930’s), then FDIC itself might go bankrupt because its job is to insure people’s bank accounts but it does not have an infinite amount of money. Sources: My opinion: after search on Google for a list of banks in trouble, it became clear that the FDIC does not list the names of banks in trouble.
