What is the likely sentence for killing people while drink driving?
The offence of death by dangerous driving has a maximum sentence being 14 years. In reality the chances of that maximum being passed are remote to say the least. Death by dangerous driving as an offence shouldn’t exist in my opinion. If I kill you or someone else by my accidental or negligent use of any other piece of machinery the potential offence is manslaughter with a maximum life sentence, yet if the piece of machinery I negligently use is a car I get the “softer” option of death by dangerous with a 14 year maximum. It makes no sense.
