About one half of one percent of light is absorbed when it travels through a lens element. Additional losses occur when some light is reflected from the surface of a lens. Nikon riflescopes have ten lens elements, producing a total loss of about 5%. The Ultra ClearCoat (UCC) system in our Monarch riflescopes delivers virtually 100% anti-reflective capability. This combination of lenses and coatings allows a 95% light transmission.
