What is the Lifespan of Golden Retriever?
The average lifespan of a Golden Retriever is 11 1/2 yrs. However, there are rare cases reported and verified of individual Golden Retrievers who lived 19 and 20 years. A disproportionate percentage of Goldens die of cancer compared to many other breeds, particularly T-cell and B-cell lymphomas. However, if a Golden Retriever owner is aware of and applies recommendations to reduce the probability of cancer in their Golden, your chances of getting your Golden to 12 to 15 years old increases significantly. These recommendations include feeding good foods like Wellness, Blue Buffalo, Evo, etc plus a bit of certain organic vegetables, filtered or spring water, excercise and good general health habits, takes care not to over-vaccinate (google : Dr Ron Shultz or Dr Jean Dodds), and keep them away from household chemical products and recently chemically treated lawns.
