Of course, it’s a mechanical item that is subject to failure at any time and/or it can can depend on how well the vehicle is maintained. It is always recommended that the water pump be replaced at the same time the timing belt is replaced because it takes the exact same mecahnical work to do one as to to do the other, and it just makes economical sense to do them at the same time and save yourself double labor charges.
