What is the life expectancy of the transponder?
In most cases, you can expect your transponders last as long as you remain interested in the sport of off-road riding. They are extremely robust, require no batteries, and the manufacturer claims they have an almost indefinite lifetime. The single biggest factor in transponder life is damage. Although VERY strong, as with anything, it’s possible to break them – and like a fracture in a good helmet – it’s probably a decent idea to replace it. In all liklihood, you’ll probably never replace it.
