What is the Life Expectancy of Great Danes?
The national average at this time is 7 to 8 years. Many Danes live to be as old as 11 and even 12 years old. A lot of factors figure into the life span on an individual basis; how the dog is raised, what the dog eats, the dogs activity level allowed, and of course the stress levels obtained every day. People must remember that a Dane has the same size heart as a normal sized dog, yet it has twice the body size than the smaller breeds; thus the heart automatically has to work twice as hard even under normal every day conditions!
