What is the level of society? Is there one Worldly Ruler?
World governments exist essentially as we see here in 1998. The only signifigant change in society is that the poor have gotten pooer and the rich have gotte richer. The creation of such a large underclass has led to increases in crime rates and segregation of cities along class lines. The increases in crime rates have forced many major cities to hire private police forces. These new police forces are derisively called ‘Nupes’. With (domestic) contract agreements in San Fancisco, Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, and Atlanta, Atlas is the largest of these private police companies operating in the US. In general, most urban people work from day to day to earn enough money to get by, keep the heat on, and “live a little” from time to time. The ever present police forces, however, at times make some areas seem like martial law zones. More rural areas have not seen the rises in crime or subsequent police buildup, but they have seen America’s farmlands bought up by large agricultural business
