What is the length of the CJI Police Academy training?
• The day CJI Police Academy operates for five months, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. • The evening CJI Police Academy operates for nine months, Monday through Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. What is the cost of attending the CJI Police Academy? Basic tuition is $1,500.00. Tuition covers use of academy training equipment and in–class instruction. (note: Tuition must be paid in full three business days prior to the first day of class.) Are there any additional costs? Yes, there are additional costs, which are as follow: • Uniforms • Gun, ammunition, and holster (Note: These items can be deferred until needed.) • Background checks • Physical and psychological exams All the foregoing expenses will be explained when you report to the CJI office. Is there any physical training involved? Yes, you are expected to successfully perform the following physical training tasks: • Running • Marching • Calisthenics • Defensive tactics • Take–down maneuvers • Arresting procedures
