With advances in anesthesia and laparoscopic surgery, patients typically leave the hospital the next day after a gastric bypass. Gastric banding patients can leave the hospital on the day of the operation. Close contact with the surgeon is critical earlier on after surgery. Blossom Bariatrics will call patients after surgery and patients will return for their first post operative visit 2 weeks after surgery.
