What is the legel age for kids to be lift at home alone while mother works?
We do not belive that there is a law that mentions a specific age when a child can be left alone. Rather, if harm comes to a child, a caretaker may be charged with neglect. For this reason, we urge that parents and caretakers consider the emotional, social and psychologocal development of the child before making a decision. These same issues of safety, maturity and responsibility must be considered when determining if a child can babysit; babysitting is made more complex by the dynamics of the relationship between the siblings. Does the eldest command respect? If so, are they mature enough to handle authority without bullying the youngsters? These are but a few of the maturity issues paretns can consider. Please see our Tip For Parents on this topic, available in the Brochures area of the PARENTS section of this web site.
