What is the legal number of pets to own in Ontario?
Animal ownership in Ontario is legislated at the municipal level, not at the provincial level, so each city/ town has its own by-laws. Many of the larger municipalities have this legislation on-line that you should be able to find by searching your town name along with “by law” and “animals” The enforcement of these by laws tend to be complaint driven. They don’t come door to door looking for violators but do respond to complaints by neighbours, landlords etc. Neglect and cruelty is another legal issue altogether. If you keep your animals well and don’t create any problems then you likely have very little to worry about.
