What is the legal drinking age in Mexico when on vacation?
The Legal drinking age in Mexico is 18 years old. i have Mexican cousins, who live in Mexico, and they’re between 17 to 21 years old, so they’ve told me this. I’m not too sure about Cancun being “americanized” though. the law doesn’t enforce the drinking age, a little kid could go into a store and buy a bottle of alcohol, (i’ve seen my 9 year old cousin do it). As long as you can see over the counter top, they’ll serve you alcohol. mexican law doesn’t enforce as much like here in the USA. Source(s): *I’m mexican-american Other Travel Tips I’m almost positive the age is 18 If you have the money and can walk to a bar and place an order then you are old enough in Mexico You’ll be fine. It’s at least 18. I’m pretty sure on that. If they are Americanized…they might be 21. My friends went on senior trip there and got drunk last year. “The legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, but it is not uniformly enforced” Loads of other information about legalities in Mexico at http://travel.state.gov/tr
