What is the legal authority for the Nevada Central Cancer Registry (NCCR)?
NRS Chapter 457 provides the enabling legislation for the establishment and maintenance of a central cancer registry in Nevada. The sources of reporting and penalties for failure to report are also outlined in this statute. Regulations promulgated by the Nevada State Board of Health (NAC 457) prescribe the time frames fro reporting, standards fro reporting, and fees. In addition, because the registry is funded largely through a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the registry must comply with Public Law 102-515.
