What is the legal age of babysitting?
In PA there is no legal age limit a child can be left alone let alone an age limit for the sitter. When the parent feels confident that the child can manage on their own they can be left alone. HOWEVER, if something occurs while the parent is out they can be held accountable for negligence, child endangerment, etc. If you are the one interested in babysitting be careful who you babysit for and if the children do not show respect for their parents I would advise not watching them. You may want to talk to your local YMCA/YWCA or church or talk to your guidance counselor about classes in your area to become certified for babysitting. If you are the one looking for a sitter and considering someone younger, be even more careful (whether it’s your own child or not) because you don’t need to go out (be it a night out or to work) enough to chance leaving your child(ren) w/someone who is not going to be there 110% for your kids. I would strongly encourage someone who is a certified babysitter,
