What is the lead content of our water?
Since 1992, Fort Collins has tested the water in over 50 homes on a regular basis. These tests consistently have shown that the lead content of standing cold tap water is four times less than the EPA action level. In most cases, lead is not even detectable. When lead is detected in tap water, it usually comes from lead solder or the faucet itself. Since 1986, the City has prohibited the use of lead-based solder in home plumbing and new construction.
