Researchers have launched the first large-scale clinical trial to determine the safety and efficacy of EDTA Chelation therapy in people with coronary artery disease, the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S. The research is being conducted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Both are a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The five-year study will involve more than 2,300 patients at more than 100 research sites across the country. “The public health imperative to undertake a definitive study of Chelation therapy is clear, says NCCAM director Stephen E.
