The United States Geological Survey said the temblor struck at 10:40 am in Eastern Time about 97km south southeast of this capital city at a depth of about 103 km below the earth. There were reports of tremor in the Guatemalan countryside and in El Salvador as well; there were no early reports of damage or injuries.
