What is the latest innovation in effluent treatment?
Conventional effluent treatment plant (ETP) has an array of equipments and chemical treatment process. The latest technology ensures that all the effluent treatment processes like equalisation, aeration, settling and decanting are carried out in a single tank. The final treated effluents needs stringent discharge norms with respect to carbon oxidation, nitrification, de-nitrification and bio-phosphorous removal in line with European standards. Ion Exchange is a licensee of this process (C-Tech process) from an Austrian company. What about the cost? Cost-wise, the concept is attractive. For one, the civil cost is reduced by 30-40 per cent. Power consumption is also 15-20 per cent less than the conventional ETP.
