What is the largest land carnivorous mammal ever?
Andrewsarchus is considered the largest land carnivore ever. However, it is thought to have been more of a scavenger that found dead carcasses or chased predators away from their kills, and not a predator. The short-faced bear, which was shorter, but weighed about the same as Andrewarchus, was a predator. It was about twice the size of a modern grizzly.
