What is the Language used by the ancient Egyptian for communication?

0

The language was actually called “Ancient Egyptian”. It was an Afro-Asiatic language, meaning that it’s distantly related to some modern languages, including Arabic, Amharic (the language of Ethiopia), Hebrew and Somali. The Egyptian language existed in one form or another until the 17th century. It’s still used today as a liturgical language by a people known as the Copts (they call their language Coptic, and everything relating to this modern version of the Egyptian language will call it Coptic) who live in Egypt and practice Christianity. Since so much time has elapsed since the “Ancient” Egyptian of the hieroglyphs, and modern Coptic, very very little is mutually intelligible. Think of how much English has changed since Beowulf was written, now quadruple that. The Copts also use a different alphabet that was invented for the language, based off of the Greek alphabet.
