What is the Kresge Foundation Challenge Grant for the OHRI?
The Kresge Foundation is a Michigan-based philanthropic foundation, created in 1924 by Sebastian S. Kresge “to promote the well-being of mankind.” Sebastian S. Kresge established the S.S. Kresge Company in 1899. The Kresge Foundation has issued The Ottawa Hospital and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute a “challenge grant” of $650,000 US for the construction of the new Centre for Stem Cell Research at the General Campus. This challenge grant will be awarded in November 2006 if the Foundation can raise the remaining $2 million Cdn needed in support of the new Centre.
