What is the Kindergarten Slip Schedule and how does it work?
Heather Kindergarten students follow a slip session schedule, where the beginning of the instructional day varies. Half the students in the class arrive at school at 8:25am, and the other half arrive at 9:25am. The first group divides into smaller groups for language arts readiness, math and reading at the beginning of the day. The first group goes home at 12:05pm. The second group then divides into smaller groups for language arts readiness, math and reading. The second group is dismissed at 1:05pm. The Kindergarten also has a group of learning centers at 11:00am. These centers are for art projects, cooking experiences, literature and science. All students rotate through the centers every ten school days. These centers are staffed by Kindergarten parent volunteers under the supervision of the class room teachers.
