What is the kind of weathering that happen when ice forms in cracks in a rock?
This is classified as physical weathering. The two types are physical and chemical. Chemical weathering is to do with the action of chemicals such as acids from the atmosphere and hydrosphere and those secreted by plants or their decomposition. Anything that act physically on the rock such as wind, wave, ice, rain etc is physical weathering.
