What is the Kettering University Soap Box Derby?
The Kettering University Soap Box Derby has been designed and created by students wishing to produce a fun and exciting philanthropic program. While reviving the Flint soap box derby races that first began in 1934. In the spirit of the school and its affiliation to the automotive industry, as well as the event being held in the city regarded most influential in the historical development of the automobiles, we hope this event will continue to spark community interest for years to come. On event day, spectators and participants can expect to enjoy a full array of entertainment including music, food, inflatable games, and derby races. The derby consists of two classes – a sponsored super stock car class that is ran by teams of college students and an open class that invites the most creative minds to come up with their own version of a derby car.
