What is the Kent Regional Fire Authority?
• The passage of Proposition No. 1 on April 27, 2010 has authorized the merger of the Kent Fire Department and King County Fire District 37 into one organization. • The new organization will retain the name – Kent Fire Department, and will serve the City of Kent, Unincorporated Fire District 37, and the City of Covington. • Governance and accountability will rest with a 6-member board consisting of 3 elected councilmembers from Kent and 3 elected commissioners from Fire District 37. • The City of Covington will receive direct representation from their elected commissioners of Fire District 37, and an at-large non-voting member of the Covington City Council. • A citizens advisory committee will provide additional oversight and input to the Kent Regional Fire Authority Board.
