The Internet2 K20 Initiative was created to allow access to Internet2 for K12 schools, public libraries, museums, zoos, aquaria, and other educational organizations with the aim to bridge K12, higher education, and informal education. The diffusion of what is now the commodity Internet took nearly 25 years after its inception in the research community to reach the broad education community (K12, community colleges, libraries, museums, science centers, etc.).
