What is the jurisdiction of the Morris County Park Police …?
The Morris County Park Police are administered by the Morris County Park Commission and have a primary duty to patrol and provide police services to all Morris County Park Commission facilities. However; when an officer observes illegal activity in any municipality in Morris County, that officer has the authority to arrest or issue a summons. Morris County Park Police have the same powers of enforcement within the territorial limits of the state of New Jersey as are conferred upon police officers or constables while on or off duty. (See N.J. Statute Title 40:37-95.41) In simple terms, officers have county wide law enforcement jurisdiction with a priority on the county parks.
