What is the JPL Directory?
The JPL Directory is a repository of people information and includes JPL and affiliate employee information such as name, location, phone number, mailstop, badge number, employer, U.S. Person status, and e-mail address. Most information is provided by New Business Systems (NBS); other providers are Unified Charging System (UCS) and self (the person named in the directory). The JPL Directory was implemented using the Sun ONE Directory Server that adheres to the LDAP protocol. • LDAP is the Internet standard for directory lookups, just as the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is the Internet standard for delivering documents. • LDAP provides a standard interface for applications to request and manage directory information. • The JPL Directory can be used by any LDAP-aware application. You may want to consider using the JPL Directory for your application. The JPL Directory Service runs on Sun Enterprise servers. They are supported 24/7 by JPL IS Operations.
