What is the job of the active site of an enzyme?

0

The active site of an enzyme is the site where substrates undergo the reaction specfic to that enzyme. The idea of “induced fit” (it’s the phrase commonly used) states that the substrate (the thing that the enzyme works on) attaches to the active site, and then induces the enzyme to conform to a certain orientation which enables it (activates it) to perform it’s specfic action on the substrate.
