What is the JCCO’s view of the future of rural GP obstetrics?
The JCCO believes that there will always be a future for rural obstetrics but the price may be too high. At this point in time is is necessary for a GP to do his/her sums as far as the indemnity issue is concerned regarding GP obstetrics and anaesthetics. It is unclear what the governments are going to do but unless they provide adequate remuneration for rural doctors then it is always going to come down to the fee-for-service payments and the workload.
