What is the Java Community Process (JCP) and what is Nokias role in it?
The Java Community Process is an open organization consisting of Java developers and licensees. It was established by Sun Microsystems, and serves the purpose of developing and revising Java technology specifications, reference implementations, and technology compatibility kits. The JCP is headed by two Executive Committees. One focuses on J2EE and J2SE, and the other on J2ME. Besides being a member in both committees, Nokia is also a very active participant in specification projects taking place in the JCP. The projects are called Java specification requests (JSRs). Nokia was co-leading the specification work for MIDP 1.0, and is currently leading the work for Multimedia API for J2ME.
