What is the IST 2004 Event?
Each year, the European Commission organizes the European IST Event. The focus is especially on ICT (Information & Communications Technologies) and its application on a European and global scale. Because, for the second half of 2004 the Netherlands presides over the European Union, this year’s event, IST 2004, took place in the Nederlands Congres Centrum (NCC) in The Hague. Visitors The IST 2004 Event was open to anyone taking part in ICT Research & Development (R&D) in Europe and for anyone wishing to use innovative R&D knowledge for renewing IST products and services. Participants and visitors included: • Scientific researchers – European universities and national scientific organizations • Applied scientific research institutes and public institutes • Strategic top management of European companies with own R&D facilities • Multinationals, larger companies, SMEs and governmental organizations • Intermediaries for promoting the transfer of knowledge, for stimulating innovative develop
