What is the ISA and what does it do?
The ISA, or Independent Safeguarding Authority to give it its full title, is an independent body established by the government as part of its strategy to protect children and the vulnerable from exploitation or harm. In particular it holds the registers of those who are barred from working with children or vulnerable adults. The result of a search of these registers is included within an Enhanced Disclosure from any part of the United Kingdom.
