This is one of our “no scams, no spams, and no scums” screens. When subscribers submit a roommate profile here, we collect their IP Address. Then we analyze it to determine that subscriber’s actual geographic location. We then share that city with other subscribers with whom that person is matched. We will NOT share the actual IP addresses themselves, just the cities indicated. This does NOT mean that any other subscriber will know your exact home or work address or precisely where you were when you submitted your profile (unless and until you choose to share that information with them yourself, of course). This is because, again, we are not sharing the actual IP addresses. It DOES mean they will know if you were honest about your actual geographic location when submitting a profile. Significant dishonesty here is a scammer red flag.
