What is the Iowas Water and Land Legacy amendment?
If it passes, this measure will create a Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund under the Iowa constitution. Major funds will flow into the trust fund if/when the Iowa Legislature chooses sometime in the future to increase the state sales tax; then the first 3/8 cent increase would have to be devoted to conservation needs every year. [Read ballot language] An estimated $150 million annually would be generated if the sales tax were raised by 3/8 cent.
