What is the ionic equation for the reaction of calcium ions with carbonate ions?

Let’s at least get the charges on the ions correct. Ca2+ + CO3^2- –> CaCO3(s) It’s not very hard to work out. Calcium carbonate, like every compound, must have a combined charge of zero, and if calcium ion is +2 and carbonate ion is -2 then when we add them together we get zero. So all you need is one ion of each.
