What is the Internet Publishing Robot?
The Internet Publishing Robot (IPR) is a set of programs used to publish text and images from a large group of people. The programs are written in php and work by storing and retrieving data from a mysql database. The programs run on a UNIX server running Apache. DC and its artists use the IPR to publish images on the Internet. Through the IPR a registered artist can edit their Artist Page, an artist with gallery service can add galleries and modify existing galleries, and anyone with store service can offer services or goods for sale. The IPR can generate dynamic pages reflecting the current state of the database. On DC these include the home page, the database page and the artist list. The IPR also handles registration, password and archiving functions. It supports bulletin boards, guestbooks, nomination and voting contests, directories and search facilities, all of which are used by DC. It also provides for email, subscription and other functions pertaining to newsletters and messag
