What is the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium ( IC&RC)?
The IC&RC is an organization whose purpose is to set international standards of practice in addiction counseling, prevention, clinical supervision and co-occurring through testing and credentialing of professionals. The Iowa Board of Certification is a member of this international organization. IC&RC, incorporated in 1981, is headquartered in Harrisburg, PA. It is a non-profit membership organization comprised of certifying bodies involved in the credentialing or licensing of alcohol & drug abuse counselors, clinical supervisors, prevention specialists, co-occurring professionals and criminal justice professionals, and is committed to public protection through the establishment of quality, competency-based certification programs and testing materials for these professionals. At this time, IC&RC includes 73 certifying bodies internationally, including 45 states in the U.S. and more than 18 foreign countries.
